The village of Cómpeta
Cómpeta is a whitewashed mountain village with kasbah-style alleys and secret squares, which come from Muslim times. You’ll find a supermarket, as well as many bars and restaurants with terraces in the always present sun.
The surroundings
The mountains in the village surroundings are suitable for walking holidays, road cycling holidays or mountain biking holidays. Hikers have more than 30 trails at their disposal in their own language, of various levels starting at the door of the accommodation. Cyclists can make routes from 45 to 130 kilometres through the mountains with small, white villages and along the Mediterranean Sea. In January the hills are full of oranges and almond trees and there is snow in the nearby Sierra Nevada.

The region has ‘the best weather in Europe’ with an average of 320 ‘Sundays’ a year, mild temperatures in winter for hiking and cycling, but also for escaping the cold months and spending winter in Spain.

About me
In October 1994 I came to Cómpeta for the first time In October 1994, because I had a trip to Estepona to look for a vacation home for my retirement. After having spent the night in Cómpeta I was totally convinced, this should be my place to live, attracted to the climate, the people and the way of life here. Later that week I bought one of the most beautiful properties in the town; the old Civil Guard house, including the stable for the mules and I restored everything to convert it into holiday accommodation in the centre of the village.
